1. What did you did you do well regarding the process and final writing of your CTW paper?
I know that I used good grammar and vocab. I found reliable articles and had an arguable topic. Basically, I started out strong.
2. What is an area that you could improve upon regarding your CTW paper?
My paper lacked structure and defining points. I knew the main arguable idea, but the main ideas falling under that are fuzzy at best. I tried to write the article without clear, arguable points, and it made everything more difficult than it had to be. My paper was confusing to both me and the reader, and it ended up being unorganized and short.
3. What writing strategy will you try to use next year when you write for any class?
I will plan out exactly what I am writing better. I didn't have a clear idea for this paper and obviously that was not the way to go. Next year, I will try to plan out my writing as much as I am able and work from there since it will make things easier. I will also write more than I have to and delete the unnecessary details instead of writing too little like I did this year.
4. When you write next year, what steps will you take to turn in a more complete and polished final writing product?
In order to turn in a better paper, I will use my time more wisely and not procrastinate. I will try to get things done as early as I can. That way I won't have to worry about finishing it later. I can use the extra time after I am finished writing to revise and edit. I will also write a stronger plan.
5. What word of writing advice would you give to your future self for next year?
I would tell myself to think of each piece as the most important of your life and not just another assignment. I would tell myself to think of it as a story (I write those better) without personal pronouns and opinions or fiction. That may sound confusing, but sometimes it makes writing easier for me. I would tell my future self to think that each paper helps decide your future and the more effort you put in your paper, the better the future you will receive. I would also tell my future self to work on spelling because my spelling is terrible. Think creatively, but remember to stay within the prompt. Most importantly, remember that a paper is never truly finished and that it will never be perfect, but that is no reason to give up. Writing something down and revising it later is better than writing nothing at all.
