Poetry In Music?

The lyric, "She acts like summer and walks like rain," from the song "Drops of Jupiter" by Train connects to poetry because it is a simile. The singer compares a girl's personality to summer, so she is happy, bright, and peaceful. The part "...walks like rain," is also a simile because the girl is now thought to be similar to rain on how she walks.
the lyric from the song "let her go" by Passenger, "you only need the light when it's burning low only miss the sun when it starts to snow only know you love her when you let her go." This lyric is somewhat of a simile because it is comparing things and it flows together and makes the lyrics to that song sound somewhat like a poem. That is how that song lyric is like a poem.
The lyric from the song, "I'll make a man out of you" from Mulan- "We must be swift as the coursing river" is poetry because it is a simile. The singer is comparing how they have to be like a river. It's saying that they have to be fast and attentive.
The lyrics "i'll be ridin' shotgun, underneath the hot sun, feelin' like a someone" from Shotgun by George Ezra relate to poetry most obviously because they rhyme but also because of the syllable count. The lyrics also display imagery in that they show the audience how they would feel and put a vivid picture in their head.
The lyrics, "Wish I didn't think I had the answers,..Wish I made it to homecoming,Got up the courage to ask her, Wish I would've gotten out of my shell,...Wish I wouldn't have worry about what other people thought.." from the song "Good Old Days" by Macklemore featured Kesha. In this stanza the song demonstrates the poetic technique anaphora, where phrases or lines begin with the same words or phrases. This stanza mostly starts with the phrase "Wish I.."
The lyrics, "Listen to your heart when he's calling for you... listen to your heart there's nothing else you can do" from Listen to Your Heart by Roxette exhibits poetry. One of the major poetic elements in these lyrics is personification. To make listeners more likely to follow their heart and not what others say, it gives human qualities to make the heart seem more important. Listen to Your Heart also uses anaphora to highlight the major purpose of the song.
One of the songs I like is Time Stood Still by Adeline Hill. The lyrics in the song are "Did you see the way the stars shine, and the night it all began and did you think about us late last night and play it back again and did you wonder if those fairy tales really do exist. " The lyrics used several poetic terms but one that pops out to me is Imaginary. In this stanza, you could imagine the stars shining and what it looked like for the author when this happened. It also helped me realize how romantic that time was. Overall many songs have at least one poetic term and by helping me catch these can help me become a better poet.
The lyrics: “I gotta stop being invisible, and start feeling invincible, I hate feeling impossible, The hardest thing is believing in your dreams.”-Invincible by; Amine. These lines exhibit a lot of rhyming or words with agreeing endings. The first three lines all end in a word that has a “ble” at the end. The very last line has a “slant rhyme” pair which is, thing and dreams, this means that these two words don’t necessarily rhyme but is close to it by the way it is sung or performed.
In the song Break Free, by Ariana Grande, the lyrics are "I only wanna die alive, never by the hands of a broken heart. Don't wanna hear you lie tonight, now that I've become who I really are." This demonstrates some rhyming. Die and lie rhyme, but the rhyming isn't too repetitive. These lyrics are a good example of how poetry is used in everyday things.
In the song "Morph" by Twenty One Pilots, Tyler Joseph sings the lyrics "He'll always try to stop me, that Nicolas Bourbaki, he's got no friends close but those who know him most know he goes by Nico, he told me I'm a copy." These lyrics are an allusion to a group of mathematicians that called themselves "Nicolas Bourbaki". Tyler continues to sing about how this group, and their beliefs, caused him to question life and his own beliefs.
In the song "Huncho Show" by Huncho, He sings the lyrics "I'm freezing real good I might go buy a Tesla" shows that he is exaggerating on saying that he wants to go buy a Tesla since he is freezing. This is an example of hyperbole.
In the song "Cold as Ice" by Foreigner is says "You're as cold as ice
You're willing to sacrifice our love". It says as cold as ice, which is a simile using the word as. A simile is comparing someone to something else using the word like or as. In this song, it is comparing someone to ice.
The song Someone to you by Banners "And if the sun's upset and the sky goes cold Then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall I really need somebody to call my own I wanna be somebody to someone Someone to you." I think it shows personification because its giving feelings to the sky and the clouds and making it sound like a person
The song this girl by Hunter Hayes, the lyrics are "I go on and on about how I could go, On and on about how much I love this girl, yeah," He keeps saying/repeating the line "this girl" like in every stanza. Hunter continues to talk about this girl in his song.
The lyric "don't come through, they run like a river" from the song 'There You Are' by Zayn is a simile, or using like or as to compare terms. This song is comparing people to a river.
In the song mo bamba by sheck wes, poetry is used when he says "Young Sheck Wes and I'm getting really rich (Ching-Ching)" because it is an onomatopoeia.
The song 'roar' by Katy Perry shows poetry in the form of a simile. The lyrics "Now I'm floating like a butterfly, Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes" use like or as to compare herself to other things.
"Blow away like smoke and air" are lyrics from a song called "Six Feet Under" by Billie Eilish. This song demonstrates a little bit of poetry because in this set of lyrics, she's using a simile (a figure in speech that compares one thing to a different thing) to tell the person she wrote about to go away, but in a way that isn't as noticeable. You can tell it's a simile because the key word in that set of lyrics is "Like" so she's comparing one thing to another.
In the song ¨Circus¨ by Britney Spears it talking about having all eyes on her. ¨All the eyes on me in the center of the ring Just like a circus¨ in this song this is a simile because it describe what she is doing or looking like using the work ¨like¨. This is a good example because its showing how she is comparing what she wanted to somewhere she can have it.
In the song "Feel good" by Gryffin she says "Take my hand in the middle of a crisis, pull me close, show me where the light is." This shows that you can get the help of someone when everything may not be going the right way for you. You can reach out to someone and they will be there for you.
In the songs Scars to Your B
beautiful, it says You don't have to change a thing the world can change its hart. The song talks about self-love and how you should love yourself no matter what. This also talks about how to be yourself and not change for anyone else.
In the song "Real Friends" by Camilla Cabello,she says "I'm just lookin for some real friends,all they ever do is let me down, everytime i let somebody in then i find out what they're all about, i'm just lookin for some real friends, wonder where they're all hidin' out" she is talking about how there are a lot of fake friends and she is struggling. When you find the real great friends in your life don't let them go because they are once in a lifetime when they come around.
In the song "Teenage Mind" by Tate McRae, he says "Lost in the puzzle of the teenage mind". And this. shows that the teenage mind can be a confusing place for anyone. This Also says that teenagers can get lost in their own minds and not know how to get out of the whole that they may have dug for themselves.
In the song 'Stitches' by Shawn Mendes the line "just like a moth drawn to a flame, you lured me and I couldn't sense the pain" is an example of a metaphor.
In the song Weekend by Mac Miller, it says "too much on my plate, Lord I need me a break". Throughout the song and in this part, it shows rhymes like some poems would.
In the song "Real Friends" by Camilla Cabello,she says "I'm just lookin for some real friends,all they ever do is let me down, everytime i let somebody in then i find out what they're all about, i'm just lookin for some real friends, wonder where they're all hidin' out" she is talking about how there are a lot of fake friends and she is struggling. In the song "24/7/365" by Surfaces the line is "One to two-step, three-step, four
She's everywhere out on the dance floor". This shows the poetic device A Couplet. The group rhyed the word four with the word floor in the two line verse.
