“Perfect” by Ed Sheeran is an example of poetry. One could say the entire song is a lyric poem. Sense it express the love of a woman, and tells the story of their time together. While the part below has no rhyme scheme, there is definitely rhyming parts in the song. When song properly it has cadence, connotation, and a rythme. Overall, the rhythm is the most important part of the song. It is entrancing and hypnotising, and rhythm of the song gets stuck in your head.

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight
Perfect

One of my favorite songs that I saw poetry in was “Bird Set Free” written by Sia. In this song there is many different words and lines that have powerful poetry, but one of them is more of a simile, “I’ll shout it out like a bird set free.” Because she is comparing her voice being let out like a bird being set free I see it have more of a figure of speech. I have another that was a tie with this line and it had some alliteration in it, “I find myself in my melodies.” This is seen as having alliteration because it repeats the m sound a couple of times. It as well has good rhythm and flows into each line, like these two lines actually go together with another line but end up having different meaning, but having flow at the same time.
“I found myself in my melodies
I sing for love, I sing for me
I'll shout it out like a bird set free.” by Sia
This is one of those songs that has amazing meaning and I personally love it, and it just gets stuck in my head.

One of my favorite songs that I saw poetry in is "Silence" by Marshmellow. In this song, there is a very deep tone. A tone that most of us could probably relate to. The tone that the artist is trying to convey is that he has lived his life in silence. Each line is deeper than the last, and it makes you feel like you could change some things about yourself. One of my favorite stanzas would have to be...
"I found peace in your violence
Can't tell me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't tell me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been silent for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't tell me there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long" - Marshmellow

This stanza gives me a feeling and tone of sadness, but it is a very emotional song that has great power.

“I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe. That we're meant to be. But jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, jealousy” This song lyric uses the poetry term of alliteration. Alliteration is using the same words more than once. Although in refrain the whole thing gets copied and sung again but in these two specific lines, they say the same thing over and over just once. This song is by Halsey and is called Bad at Love.

The song 1-800-273-8255 by Logic exhibits the feelings he has inside of his head, and how he slowly changes his perspective. It uses an oxymoron and personification to bring the lyrics alive and relate to the listener. Here are the lyrics that I thought impacted the song positively the most.
It's the very first breath
"When your head's been drowning underwater
And it's the lightness in the air
When you're there
Chest to chest with a lover
It's holding on, though the road's long
And seeing light in the darkest things
And when you stare at your reflection
Finally knowing who it is
I know that you'll thank God you did"
(The italics did not work)

Strange Birds by Birdy can express different scenarios. She could be mourning over a loss in the family. She could also want to be in a relationship but is still hurt over an old relationship. There are many more here are just some examples. Same as in poetry, a poem can be interpreted in different ways.

Here are some lyrics!

You've always loved the strange birds
Now I want to fly into your world
I want to be heard
My wounded wing's still beating,
You've always loved the stranger inside

Too good at goodbyes by Sam Smith expresses some sad, depressing feelings. In the song he is telling people a story to who ever keeps breaking up with him and comes back and saying how he is used to it. I also think the tone and sound of the song is showing how its a sad time for him and he is struggling. There are lots of other examples. Just like in poetry a poem can be interpreted in different ways.

Lyrics:
I'm never gonna let you close to me
Even though you mean the most to me
'Cause every time I open up, it hurts
So I'm never gonna get too close to you
Even when I mean the most to you
In case you go and leave me in the dirt

But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry
And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry
And every time you walk out, the less I love you
Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true

I'm way too good at goodbyes- Sam Smith

Mrs. Potato Head by Melanie Martinez reveals the standards of society about beauty. In her song she is brings to fact that no matter what people say about personality being more important, beauty is main factor to getting people to like you. She uses many similes and metaphors to refer to this fact.In many lines she also uses alliteration. The song title is even a metaphor saying that we get plastic surgery and change our appearances, like when playing with the potato dolls you can mix and match their faces and appearances.

Lyrics:
They stick pins in you like a vegetable
Kids forever, kids forever
Baby soft skin turns into leather
Don't be dramatic it's only some plastic
No one will love you if you're unattractive

One of my favorite songs I saw poetry in was "See You Again" by Tyler The Creator. There are so much connotation and metaphoric verses but the introduction is the one that displays it the most.
" You live in my dream state
We're lowkey my fantasy
I stay in reality
You live in my dream state
Anytime I count sheep
That's the only time we make up, make up
You exist behind my eyelids, my eyelids
Now I don't wanna wake up"
He's talking about how this person is always on his mind but mostly while he's sleeping. He's comparing them to a dream because they are his dream. When he talks about how they only make up in his dreams is because their real relationship isn't perfect like how it is in a dream. He states he lives in reality but he never stops dreaming about this person. Each line has a deeper meaning than what he's actually saying.
